My Mixed Media Messy Weekend

My Mixed Media Mayhem Messy Weekend

Hi All

So what have I been doing recently - well for the first time I went on a two-day Mixed Media Crafting weekend held at the Crooklands Hotel held by Rowan Tree Crafts in Carnforth, Lancashire. The tutor was Mark Gould from DecoArt.  A big thank you to all who organised this fab weekend, I had a great time I can't wait to go again next year, i'll start saving now!

It was all about surfaces - On the first day we decorated a box and made small ATC cards. On the second day it was Alice in Wonderland and creating a book using stamps, painting and gilding flakes -  Hardly any ink in sight just a bit of Stazon and Archival - a bit of a trauma for me there then! There were 13 lovely ladies on the weekend and two days of intense crafting with demos continuing into the evening. It was a great weekend and I learned a lot! I also found lots of 'must have' paints and stuff I needed to be able to do it all over again at home.

Here are some images of the ATC Cards and box I made on the first day, using a range of surface techniques, chalk paints, stencils, vaseline, gilding flakes, texture paint, crackle glaze with antiquing fluid, using acrylic paints on acrylic and stamping and a whole new concept 'working from behind' - took a while to get my head around that one!

Day Two
Here are some images of The Alice in Wonderland Craft Book, I made on the second day.  Mark gave us wonderful items to work with to consolidate the techniques we used on the first day.

For the past month I have been busy creating a range of sample cards for a well known stamp company - but you’ll have to wait a while to see those.
